I’m still on a YA dystopia binge for day twenty one of Blogtober! Delirium is actually the first in a trilogy, which I own, but I’ve shamefully only read the first one! I’m not sure why, because I really enjoyed it, but it worked as a standalone too.
Delirium takes place in a post apocalyptic world where love has been identified as a disease, the root of unhappiness, and has been eradicated by careful administration of a surgical cure. The main character, Lena, has been convinced of the necessity of this cure but falls in love before she reaches her eighteenth birthday.
It’s a very typical YA dystopia; girl falls in love with outsider with a secret. Yet it’s still enjoyable. I originally read Delirium on the steps of a warehouse I was working in aged twenty, absolutely miserable, and it was the only thing that got me through the day!
